Freelance Assistant Technical Designer

Universal Standard is seeking an Assistant Designer to join our ever-growing team. This individual will be responsible for assisting the technical and design team to successfully conduct fit sessions and develop product. This position will report into the Director of Technical Design.

What You'll Do:

• Receive, organize, and manage tracking of all samples
• Accurately spec garments and prepare all samples for fitting
• Evaluate samples prior to fit sessions to ensure previous changes have been made
• Attend fittings and take clear and concise notes for vendor comments
• Input images into Technical Packages after each fitting and share with all necessary parties
• Manage all TOP comments/ approvals and communicate to vendors/production team
• Sketch in illustrator and create Color CADs
• Create Tech Packs as needed
• Clearly communicate and write fit comments

Who You Are:

• At least one year experience as a Design Assistant or Technical Design Assistant
• Degree in Fashion Design or Technical Design or related preferred
• Understanding of garment construction and patterns
• Strong ability to accurately spec garments
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Positive and dependable attitude
• Enthusiastic and willingness to learn
• Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment
• Effective time management and ability to stay organized
• Exceptional skills in Illustrator sketching
• Competent in Excel
