International Women’s Day: An Opportunity to Do Good
As a women-led company, it’s important to US that we support other women. That’s why we’re honored to work with two incredible organizations that help women returning to the workforce: First Step & Dress for Success. Through our ongoing size exchange program, Universal Fit Liberty, we’ve been able to repurpose gently worn clothing that no longer fits you, by donating it. Instead of letting them take up room in your closet, or worse, wind up in a landfill, we’re working to give them a second life.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to highlight these amazing non-profits and the work that they do.
Today we celebrate them, and all the women that they help, by donating the day’s profits directly to them.
Part of the Coalition for the Homeless, First Step is a job training program that helps homeless and low-income women get the training, social support, education and work experience they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. Over the course of 14 weeks, First Step offers a curriculum that includes over 100 hours of computer instruction, as well as literacy workshops, and communication and interpersonal skills development. Their holistic approach, combining both practical training with social service support ensures success for the women in the program.
Founded in 1997, Dress for Success is an international non-profit that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success is about more than a new outfit. Through programming and mentorship, they ensure that the women they work with gain the confidence they need to thrive.
“We believe that achieving gender equality is imperative to developing a sustainable and just world for all, which is possible by acknowledging the crucial role that women play in the world economy.”
- Dress for Success
Within the past year we’ve donated over 30 boxes of your laundered, gently worn clothing to these incredible organizations. We believe your wardrobe should be an asset, not a liability, and it is an honor to help outfit these women as they take on the world.
We believe that it is our responsibility and privilege to give back. With your help, we’ve been able to donate to some incredible organizations that are working to make the world better. From supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts with One America Appeal, to recycling jeans through our Denim Drive with Blue Jeans Go Green, and helping to stop violence against women with UN Women, giving back has become part of our brand DNA.
We have no plans to stop, and we’ll continue to ask for your help in making a small, but we hope impactful, difference.
