How do I find my size at Universal Standard?

We recommend measuring yourself for the best fit. Measure around your bust at the fullest point, your waist at the narrowest part, and your hips at the fullest part. Compare your measurements to our size chart to find your perfect fit. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL). If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up. What is Universal Sizing?

We thought conventional sizing seemed skewed, so we shifted the spotlight to reflect the real bell curve. If the average woman wears a size 18, then that should be called a Medium, right? Our sample size is an 18, and we engineer every single size from there to ensure the perfect fit for all of US. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL in Universal Standard sizing).

What is your return and exchange policy?

We offer free shipping and fast returns. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return or exchange items through our Returns Portal at universalstandard.happyreturns.com. Exchanges are free for domestic customers. Please note that Final Sale items are not eligible for returns.

What materials does Universal Standard use?

We use premium, carefully selected fabrics for comfort and durability. Each product page displays the specific fabric composition and care instructions under the Fabric & Care section. Our materials are chosen to maintain their quality wash after wash. Common fabrics include our signature Moro Ponte, premium cotton blends, and luxurious liquid jersey.

There is ZERO down in this ""Down jacket. ""

"The word DOWN has a meaning. And it doesn't mean ""puffer coat. "" It means a specific type of feathers. Natural fibers. Note that there is no down in this down jacket. Yet not only do they call it ""Down"" in the title, but they repeatedly say it's a ""down jacket"" in the description. You have to open the fabric information to see that it is 100% polyester. The item description is a lie. The thing is, there's a lot to like about this jacket. It's well made, has features you don't find on many coats these days. But it's NOT down, and you WILL notice that when temps fall below 30F or so. And the fact that US insists on calling it a ""down jacket"" as if ""down"" was a buzzword and not a real name for a real fabric? It makes me distrust US and their other fabrications. So much for ""Luxury fabrics"" people. File this with all the ""Vegan"" clothing and go get a real down jacket if you want warmth."

Middling

"I really wanted to love this cute light puffer! The color is gorgeous and the fit is perfect but. . . there are a tremendous number of loose threads, the zipper doesn't work properly and the hood doesn't stay forward and has no tying mechanism the keep the wind from bowing it back immediately. So this jacket is more like a layer that has lost its way. I can't wear it when it is really cold as it doesn't function well (I do love the fleece pockets though) and I can really wear it when it's not as cold as it is too warm. So meh: I am very glad I bought it on sale"

"I bought it in S , like all my coats and jackets from US, but it is little tight. My usual size M but all coats are usually generously cut. Otherwise, great coat, love the side panels and deep sea color is fantastic"

Mid weight puffer a hit!

"I originally ordered my regular size, Large, but found it a bit tight with a sweater underneath. (The sweater is necessary because , Canada. ). So I returned it for a 1X, and am perfectly happy. I ordered this jacket in the first place for chilly spring and fall days when my regular US coat is just too much. I also fell in love with the colour— I'm all about blue. The coat is beautiful and well made. I especially appreciate the double-headed zipper as I use a mobility scooter, and the zipper, when undone a bit at the bottom means the coat won't ride up in back when I'm sitting in my scooter. Great job US! Thoughtful design as always!"

A nice jacket but NOT a down jacket!

"Got this in a mystery box. It's a nice and well-designed jacket with some features that have been removed from other coat manufacturers (double zipper! Nice inside pocket!)However be aware that it is NOT a down jacket. It's 100% polyester, not a single feather to be found. If you are looking for the high quality warmth provided by a down puffer, this is not it. It's fine for middling temps but it will not keep you warm as the temps drop below 20 degrees the way down does. The name is misleading (and possibly illegal)"

Bring on the cold!

"Another home run from Universal Standard. This jacket is so light, so squishy, and so comfortable that I'm actually looking forward to the cold. The comfort panels make the fit dreamy, which is so rare for a plus sized woman. The sleeves are not too long or too loose. And the color is stunning. I found matching Lands End gloves and ear warmers, and I can't wait to put it all together!"

"I liked this coat and have been looking for something similar and was very excited to order it. I thought it felt like it was a little small, especially comparing against some other US tops that I have. I thought it felt tight across the shoulders especially. But I thought the length seemed good. I decided to exchange it for a size up but black was already out of stock! I hope they get more"

Bought it twice!

"I bought this jacket last year in my regular shirt size of M. I loved this jacket and got lots of wear from it throughout the fall, winter, and early spring. Warm without being overwhelming so. The only thing I got annoyed with was that the jacket was a little tight around my hips and kept riding up. This year, I bought it again in size L and it fits around my hips much better. Looking forward to donating the smaller size and enjoying the size that fits better! Definitely an investment, but I think I wore it most days when it wasn't below zero in the Upper Midwest."
