How do I find my size at Universal Standard?

We recommend measuring yourself for the best fit. Measure around your bust at the fullest point, your waist at the narrowest part, and your hips at the fullest part. Compare your measurements to our size chart to find your perfect fit. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL). If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up. Visit our Find My Size page at universalstandard.com/pages/find-my-size for detailed guidance.

What is Universal Sizing?

We thought conventional sizing seemed skewed, so we shifted the spotlight to reflect the real bell curve. If the average woman wears a size 18, then that should be called a Medium, right? Our sample size is an 18, and we engineer every single size from there to ensure the perfect fit for all of US. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL in Universal Standard sizing).

What is your return and exchange policy?

We offer free shipping and fast returns. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return or exchange items through our Returns Portal at universalstandard.happyreturns.com. Exchanges are free for domestic customers. Please note that Final Sale items are not eligible for returns.

Fit Liberty is our revolutionary shopping program that allows you to buy for the size you are right now. Any piece in the Fit Liberty collection is eligible for a one-year size exchange (beyond our standard return policy) should you go up or down in size within a year. We've expanded this program from 40 styles to over 400 styles! Look for the Fit Liberty Eligible icon on product pages. Process your Fit Liberty exchange through our Returns Portal and select Fit Liberty as the return reason.

How do Universal Standard clothes fit?

Our fits vary by style. Skimming fit is designed for a comfortable fit that lays closer to the body without clinging. Each product page includes specific fit details and model measurements to help you choose the right size. Our model information typically shows the size worn and the model's measurements for reference.

What materials does Universal Standard use?

We use premium, carefully selected fabrics for comfort and durability. Each product page displays the specific fabric composition and care instructions under the Fabric & Care section. Our materials are chosen to maintain their quality wash after wash. Common fabrics include our signature Moro Ponte, premium cotton blends, and luxurious liquid jersey.

Photos do not reflect the product

"I ordered the light wash version of these jeans. They are actually distressed jeans, and that is not clear from the photograph at all. At this price point, the photos really should show details like that so it's clear what you're buying. I am considering exchanging them, however its going to cost me even more money to buy new packaging to return them in, its going to cost me time getting that and mailing them, so even though they claim exchanges are free, they really aren't. Super disappointing. I was really looking forward to these. They would have been so cute without the stupid rips in them."

Love these - new favorites

"This was my very first purchase from Universal Standard, and I'm obsessed! These are wonderful jeans - the fit is excellent, the fabric and tailoring are just right. They are in my top three pairs of jeans that I'll wear on repeat. I couldn't believe when I put them on I felt like they were made for me, and also had a slight lived-in softness right from the start. I wanted light colored jeans and these are perfect."

Really nice quality jeans

"Best fitting jeans ever. I have a curvy hourglass shape and usually wear a 12. I'm really loving the fit even just after having a baby, I'd recommend to everyone. High quality!"

Favorite fabric

"I love the fabric used for these pants! I sometimes have an issue with US jeans getting super baggy after a long day, but this pair of jeans started supportive for multiple wears. Huge fan, would recommend. I would love some appreciative dark washes, perhaps with yellow stitching like on traditional jeans!"

Cute jeans

"This is my first pair of jeans from US. Overall I'm happy and kept them. They're thick and feel like solid material. I love the straight but not skinny look. Only two negatives: 29in inseam is too short. They're definitely ankle and would be perfect with a couple extra inches in length. There are also a couple weird color spots that I'm assuming are supposed to be distressed. One spot looks like bleach spilled on it? See photo. But it isn't a big enough problem to want to deal with a return. For reference, I'm 5'9 and usually a 14 or 16 in other brands. The 14 fits well in these, 16 was too big."

Comfortable!

"I love the way these jeans feel, but I would love a shorter length. At 29" they are a couple of " too long for me, so that the style of the taper at the ankle really disappears. Keeping them! But will be a 'comfort' wear rather than feeling cute."

My new favorite jeans!

"They are very roomy with so much stretch!"

These are my favorites

"These are now my favorite jeans. I would buy them in multiple colors - would like a less distressed fabric, but they are the best fit! Wearing a size 16. They are comfortable in the waist and through the hips and thighs but then they taper down to the ankle and are long enough at last! I love the 29" option. They are the best."

Very itchy and stiff jeans

"I have purchased these before in Washed Tide and I love that version. The Dark Indigo is another story. The jeans are stiff and itchy and uncomfortable. The fit is fine, but something about the Dark Indigo jeans make these really unpleasant to wear, which is a shame because this cut is flattering for my body type. No amount of washing or fabric softener seems to help make the Dark Indigo any more comfortable to wear."
