We thought conventional sizing seemed skewed, so we shifted the spotlight to reflect the real bell curve. If the average woman wears a size 18, then that should be called a Medium, right? Our sample size is an 18, and we engineer every single size from there to ensure the perfect fit for all of US. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL in Universal Standard sizing).

Great jeans, bad smell

"I love almost everything about these jeans. The fit is perfect. I am 5'5". With a sneaker I get a bit of a casual break in the leg or a dressier straight fall with a heel. I have an 8" waist to hip ratio and the fit in the waist is perfect. I am a size 14 in most brands, and between 12 and 14 at US. I'm glad I took the website and review advice and ordered the 12. The fabric is substantial and the stretch makes it very comfortable. The only downside is the strong chemical smell, I assume from a mold and insect retardant. I have washed them twice, sprayed with alcohol and hung outside in sun for two days an it is only now starting to fade."

Disappointed. Sizing and fit not at all as described.

"The fit and stretch is my main issues with this denim. For the price I spent, I am overall quite disappointed. I followed the size guide with my exact measurements and followed the recommendation to size down. After wearing only twice, I think I should have sized down three total sizes to make these work. I have worn these jeans twice and both times, they look and fit great when I first put them on. However, after maybe two hours of wear they are severely stretched, gapping around my butt (which I have NEVER experienced as I am very curvy) and quite literally falling off my hips!! Additionally, the denim is ALREADY pilling between my thighs after two wears. I am so disappointed with the fit and quality and ofcourse since they looked great when I first put them on, I have already worn and washed them and can’t return them. This was my first time ordering from Universal Standard and I will be hesitant to order again if the quality and fit of their products is going to be so severely unpredictable, especially with the price tag."
