How do I find my size at Universal Standard?

We recommend measuring yourself for the best fit. Measure around your bust at the fullest point, your waist at the narrowest part, and your hips at the fullest part. Compare your measurements to our size chart to find your perfect fit. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL). If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up. What is Universal Sizing?

We thought conventional sizing seemed skewed, so we shifted the spotlight to reflect the real bell curve. If the average woman wears a size 18, then that should be called a Medium, right? Our sample size is an 18, and we engineer every single size from there to ensure the perfect fit for all of US. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL in Universal Standard sizing).

What is your return and exchange policy?

We offer free shipping and fast returns. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return or exchange items through our Returns Portal at universalstandard.happyreturns.com. Exchanges are free for domestic customers. Please note that Final Sale items are not eligible for returns.

Fit Liberty is our revolutionary shopping program that allows you to buy for the size you are right now. Any piece in the Fit Liberty collection is eligible for a one-year size exchange (beyond our standard return policy) should you go up or down in size within a year. Our model information typically shows the size worn and the model's measurements for reference.

What materials does Universal Standard use?

We use premium, carefully selected fabrics for comfort and durability. Each product page displays the specific fabric composition and care instructions under the Fabric & Care section. Our materials are chosen to maintain their quality wash after wash. Common fabrics include our signature Moro Ponte, premium cotton blends, and luxurious liquid jersey.

Runs Uncharacteristically Quite Small

"Very pretty and flattering style. You can look good and be comfy at the same time. I always read the detailed garment dimensions that US gives for each item in order to carefully select the right size for me. When I got my dress, it was SUPER SUPER small, so beware! I went up 2 sizes in my exchange and am now happy with the fit. I didn't want it to be clingy, so this worked for me. It doesn't look WAY loose and sloppy now, just nicely shaped but not clinging to everything. I first ordered a 2XS 6-8, but ended up liking the way the S 14-16 fit. If you like it a bit closer to the body and form-fitting, you might consider ordering 1 size up from what the size chart says. Since I'm only 5 feet tall and US (sadly) STILL doesn't offer Petite sizing, I had to get the dress length shortened by my seamstress, as usual with US, which costs me money, of course."

Cutest dress I ever had!

"This is a FABULOUS dress! I thought it looked cute but resisted it for eons, because my tummy is my big figure flaw area. I thought the tied sleeves at the tummy might draw unwanted attention to that area. But instead the dress is just DARLING on! My tummy doesn't stick out and in fact may have a nice hiding place. I love the extra sleeves that tie so widely. It would work well with leggings, too. TERRIFIC dress!"
