We recommend measuring yourself for the best fit. Measure around your bust at the fullest point, your waist at the narrowest part, and your hips at the fullest part. We thought conventional sizing seemed skewed, so we shifted the spotlight to reflect the real bell curve. If the average woman wears a size 18, then that should be called a Medium, right? Our sample size is an 18, and we engineer every single size from there to ensure the perfect fit for all of US. Our sizes range from 00-40 (4XS to 4XL in Universal Standard sizing).

What is your return and exchange policy?

We offer free shipping and fast returns. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return or exchange items through our Returns Portal at universalstandard.happyreturns.com. Exchanges are free for domestic customers. Please note that Final Sale items are not eligible for returns.

What materials does Universal Standard use?

We use premium, carefully selected fabrics for comfort and durability. Each product page displays the specific fabric composition and care instructions under the Fabric & Care section. Our materials are chosen to maintain their quality wash after wash. Common fabrics include our signature Moro Ponte, premium cotton blends, and luxurious liquid jersey.

Waist won’t fit over a 2x8” plank

"ZERO STARS I have mostly adored all my purchases from US, and I would love these pants if the waist would stretch. I am and have been a solid size 2XS & these pants say “true to size”, but while there IS elastic at the waistband, the material surrounding the elastic does not give, which makes the “stretch” aspect a moot point. They would greatly benefit from a side zipper(wish I could afford the tailor). Unfortunately, as a final sale these cannot be returned. Unless your lower half resembles a 2x6” plank, do not throw away your money."

Odd fabrication for this type of pant

"It's an odd crepey fabric that doesn't make sense for the description. They also feel tight through the waist -- especially for a stretchy pant. I'll wear them, and they look professional, but they lack the comfort you'd think they'd have."

Easy care, good looks, and ready for travel

"The fit and design of these pants is excellent. Love the zippered pockets that make it practical but not droopy pockets that always bother me. I bought them for travel and long days of work. Yes the fabric is a little slick (not the soft and cozy US cotton). But for function and for looking pressed it fits my needs. Bought navy color and it looks good with sneakers as well as dressier shoes."

Perfect for travel!

"I bought these for a last minute trip to DC. I needed something that could go from cross country flight, to a long walk to see the cherry trees and then directly to dinner and these totally fit the bill. I paired them with a navy and white striped French mariner sweater. I loved the secret panel in the front that offers more structure across the belly. The fit was perfect, and the zip pockets welcome for phone and small wallet. They didn't wrinkle and stayed crisp and neat looking. They aren't cheap but I've worn them multiple times since. They're just so easy to wear."
